La Grange Agrees to $14.5M Bond Issue for Flood Relief According to the Chicago Tribune, trustees agreed to issue bonds to finance $14.5 million in sewer improvements. The bonds will be paid back over the next 20 years through increases in sales tax revenue, utility taxes and sewer rates, rather than property tax. Local Enterprise Zones on Hold over IL Budget Impasse The state Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, which approves sales tax breaks for construction materials, cannot certify 49 previously approved enterprise zones because of the ongoing budget impasse in Illinois. Partners for Rural America State Rural Development Councils (SRDCs) are organizations representing all levels of government, community, regional nonprofit organizations, and the private sector. The SRDCs can implement best practices, obtain technical assistance, determine funding sources, and assist local leaders with community development. This 2015 annual report highlights the impact that several SRDCs have had on rural citizens. University of Chicago Tops IFA's Billion Dollar Slate The Illinois Finance Authority advanced plans for nearly $1 billion in borrowing on behalf of not-for-profit schools and hospitals including the University of Chicago, according to The Bond Buyer.
