Placematters reports on a street festival in NY designed to facilitate public input on brownfields redevelopment. Groundwork Hudson Valley was awarded the Brownfields Redevelopment Program grant from the US EPA to form a steering committee made up of local stakeholders. The committee will identify ways that nearby multi-use trails and adjacent streets can better serve the community.

According to the Commercial Property Executive, Pennsylvania approved a $10 million package of incentives and programs to facilitate redevelopment on a Pittsburgh brownfield. Governor Corebett announced that the package will support the approximately $1 billion redevelopment of the former LTV Steel site along the Monongahela River in Hazelwood.

The US Environmental Protection Agency released this summary for FY15 brownfield assessment and cleanup grant guideline changes.

The report analyzes the Brownfield Redevelopment Program from July 2013-June 2014. The program reached several major milestones, including 280 projected new direct jobs, 423 projected new indirect jobs and $11 million in projected new capital investment are attributable to the Program.

The CDFA Brownfields Technical Assistance Program is funded by a grant from the U.S. EPA to provide assistance to communities throughout the country that are looking to finance the redevelopment of brownfield sites.

Professor Nico Groenendijk from the University of Twente (Netherlands) provides an in-depth analysis of brownfield financing and the various costs/benefits. Of the financing techniques provided, the guide includes four models of public-private cooperation for brownfield redevelopment.
