EPA Announces FY16 Brownfields Grant Selections
The U.S. EPA announced the selection of 218 new Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund and Cleanup (ARC) grant investments totaling $55.2 million to 131 communities across the U.S.
Senate EPW Committee Votes to Reauthorize EPAs Brownfields Program
As reported by Smart Growth America, the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW) voted to approve the Brownfields Utilization, Investment, and Local Development Act of 2015 (BUILD Act), which would reauthorize the U.S. EPA Brownfields program though 2018.
New Brownfield Grant Opportunity: ATSDR Community Health Projects
The ATSDR Community Health Projects (CHP) Related to Contamination at Brownfield/Land Reuse Sites purpose is to increase responsive public health actions by promoting healthy and safe environments and preventing harmful exposures related to contamination at Brownfield/Land Reuse Sites.
Brownfield Site Becoming Ecotourism Destination in Sterling, IL
The City of Sterling, Illinois' progress on its riverfront redevelopment plans can be seen in several places, but most eyes eventually return to two blighted buildings, reports Saukvalley.com. Cleanup and redevelopment of the Lawrence Brothers and Stanley-National sites carries an estimated price tag of $67 million.
EPA Announces $11 Million in Nationwide Brownfields Technical Assistance Funding
The U.S Environmental Protection Agency announced $11 million in funding to provide for the cleanup of brownfields sites, including encouraging more public involvement in the cleanup process. The New Jersey Institute of Technology will receive $3 million in grant funds. Other organizations receiving funding from the EPA include the Center for Creative Land Recycling and Kansas State University.
City of Fort Collins, CO Begins Northside Revitalization Brownfield Assessment Project
The City of Fort Collins has begun the initial phases of the Northside Revitalization project, an Area-wide Brownfield Assessment effort funded through a $500,000 grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that was awarded to the City in late 2015.
