Proposed SC Plant Approved for Job Development Credits
Oregon-based Roseburg Forest Products plans to create a $200 million wood products plant in Chester County, South Carolina. The South Carolina Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to the project.
SC Community Plans for City-Wide Infrastructure Upgrades
Beaufort, South Carolina, is partnering with Johnson Controls to complete a citywide performance infrastructure and conservation project that's expected to generate $5.4 million in savings over 15 years. The initiative, which was announced in late April, will also reduce the city's overall carbon footprint, energy usage and water consumption.
SC Government Investing in Rural Broadband Connection
AT&T is planning to use cell towers across South Carolina to bring high-speed broadband to rural areas where internet access is slow to nonexistent. AT&T is receiving $9.7 million a year from the government in return for connecting more than 30,000 customers here by the end of 2020.
IFA Expansion in SC Eligible for Tax Credits
With a new manufacturing plant under construction in Berkeley County, the head of German-based vehicle supplier IFA recently said that his country's automotive industry is playing a key role in providing U.S. jobs despite President Donald Trump's rhetoric to the contrary. The South Carolina Coordinating Council for Economic Development provided a $150,000 grant to the county to offset the cost of sitework associated with IFA's expansion. The company also is eligible for state tax credits it can claim based on job creation.
Steel Company, in SC, Using Incentives to Expand Operations
A steel galvanizing company will invest $14.1 million and create 72 jobs at a new plant in Blacksburg, South Carolina. Cherokee County Council on Monday approved tax breaks for Steel Creek Galvanizing Company LLC, which will build an 82,000-square-foot building at 576 Tribal Road.
Ruiz Foods Expanding Operations in SC
Ruiz Foods is bringing in 705 new jobs to the Florence County, South Carolina, facility. The company is making a $79 million investment and doubling its current capacity and manufacturing.
SC Community Loan Fund Provides Funding for Town Hall
The first of two new Virginia-based, $82 million senior-living facilities and a new Town Hall have recently been opened in South Carolina. The Charleston-based South Carolina Community Loan Fund recently provided funding for a new town hall in Hollywood.
