Brownfields Case Study - Milwaukee
This study from Partnership for Sustainable Communities examines how brownfields projects in Milwaukee, WI can be transformed into opportunities for urban redevelopment. The North End and Park East Corridor projects are examples of how to leverage other public funds from the city and state through the use of RLF, TIF, and EPA grants.

Partners for Rural America
State Rural Development Councils (SRDCs) are organizations representing all levels of government, community, regional nonprofit organizations, and the private sector. The SRDCs can implement best practices, obtain technical assistance, determine funding sources, and assist local leaders with community development. This 2015 annual report highlights the impact that several SRDCs have had on rural citizens.

Taxing Entities Create New Downtown TIF District
According to the Wisconsin State Journal, the City of Madison, Madison School District, and other taxing entities approved a new tax incremental financing district that will support three big redevelopment projects valued at $130.7 million on the West Side of Capitol Square.

Building Local Food Systems to Foster Economic Growth
The USDA reports that Wisconsin is among the top five states for Federal local food investments as part of USDA's StrikeForce Initiative for Rural Growth and Opportunity, which coordinates USDA assistance in the nation's most economically challenged rural areas.

FCC Funds to Expand Broadband to Rural Customers
Frontier Communications Corp. now has financial backing from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to provide residents in its coverage area with speedy and affordable broadband service. According to American City & County, Frontier accepted $283 million from the FCC's annual Connect America Fund (CAF) to expand services to underserved residents in Wisconsin and other states to ensure access to modernized communications.
