Expert practitioners will join CDFA's SSBCI Briefing this Friday, July 16, to provide insights on the capital and technical assistance needed to support small businesses and startups. SSBCI Program Allocation Methodology for Tribal Governments Published
This recently published document describes Treasury's methodology for allocating the $500 million in SSBCI funds that are designated for Tribal governments. The addition of Tribal governments represents a significant expansion of the number of eligible jurisdictions to receive SSBCI funds. Tribal governments are expected to use their allocated funds to facilitate capital access programs, provide collateral support, facilitate loan participation, or enable credit guarantee or other credit support programs to support small businesses lending and investment.

From Relief to Recovery: What to Know
As the nation recovers from the pandemic, the strategic lens for small business support will shift from averting destruction to making strategic investments in entrepreneurship ecosystems and small business growth strategies. Those longer-term investments typically try to address one of three broader economic objectives: growing jobs, addressing racial disparities in asset ownership, and investing in underserved neighborhoods and commercial corridors.

Treasury Department Publishes SSBCI Fact Sheet for Tribal Governments
The U.S. Department of the Treasury has published an SSBCI fact sheet for Tribal governments. Tribal governments may apply individually or jointly and may operate programs themselves or contract with third parties or other Eligible Jurisdictions to operate programs. Treasury encourages Tribal governments with limited experience in small business financing programs to consider joint applications and working with third parties with a strong track record operating small business financing programs.
