Illiana Foes Happy, Some Unsure, about Its Apparent Demise
Gov. Rauner's office announced that the Illiana toll road project had been removed from the state's multi-year transportation plan. However, the governor stopped short of declaring the project dead, according to the Chicago Tribune.
City Officials Pleased with Brownfields Grant Work
An EPA brownfields grant has helped the City of Danville leverage additional funding, including $111 thousand in city cash and in-kind services for redevelopment, community outreach, and administrative costs, as well as $361 thousand in private investment, according to Commercial News.
Financing Could Be an Obstacle for Hotel Project in Rockford, IL
Rockford Advocate writes on the financial uncertainties developers face. The $67 million hotel redevelopment project is hoping to secure $22.5 million in tax credits and $25 million from EB-5 investors.
Mt. Carmel, IL Applying for Enterprise Zone Status
According to 14 News, Mt. Carmel city leaders are applying to the state to get enterprise zone status, which provides two benefits to businesses. One is reduced or eliminated real estate taxes. The other is exemption from sales tax on any items they buy for construction.
Moody's Analyst: Chicago Downgrade Was 'Basic Mathematics'
According to Crain's Chicago, Moody's has repeatedly warned Chicago of the need for tough decisions about budget cuts or tax hikes to make annual pensions payments.
