Walla Walla Approves $6.3M for Smart Meters
The Walla Walla City Council has approved the sale of $6.3 million in GO bonds to replace 10,893 utility customer meters with smart meters. The smart meters establish a radio frequency connection allowing instantaneous tracking of water use and loss.
WA Sound Transit OKs $4B Light Rail Expansion
Sound Transit Board members have approved the Sound Transit 3 plan to speed up light rail extensions by two-to-five years, and add projects in Renton, Kirkland and North Seattle. This will cost an additional $4 billion, boosting the overall ballot measure to $54 billion
Developer Plans Seattle Mixed-Use, Brownfield Project
University Place WA LLC is planning a 244-unit mixed-use project on a former brownfield site. The six-story project, called University Place at Union Bay, would create 21,000 square feet of retail space.
Puget Sound Region to Compete for Impact Investments
Social Venture Partners (SVP) invites high school, college, established nonprofits, early-stage nonprofits, and for-profit social enterprises to compete for funding and capacity building support in its sixth annual SVP Fast Pitch Seattle program.
Washington CERB Approves $234K for Infrastructure Projects
The Washington State Community Economic Revitalization Board has approved $234,500 for infrastructure development and feasibility studies targeting business growth and job creation at the Port of Benton, Port of Moses Lake, Port of Bremerton, Port of Kingston, and the Port of Peninsula.
Rockefeller Announces 37 New Additions to 100 Resilient Cities
100 Resilient Cities and The Rockefeller Foundation announced the next 37 member cities to join its global network. U.S. cities include Atlanta, Honolulu, Louisville, Greater Miami, Minneapolis, Nashville, Seattle, and Washington DC.
Judge OKs Plan to Restart Stalled Seattle Belltown Tower
The 40-story Potala Tower, funded largely by would-be immigrant investors under the EB-5 visa program, has been stalled since last summer. Plans for new investors to pump in $30 million were approved by the federal judge overseeing the case.
