An $80 million to $100 million multi-use development that would include an arena, convention center, hotel and retail space was proposed for downtown Pensacola in a private meeting by a real estate developer. Part of the financing would come from public funds but the details are still being discussed.

Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain's office says the grants come from federal flood recovery dollars set aside by Congress and overseen by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
