Public Funds Being Discussed for New Arena in Pensacola, LA
An $80 million to $100 million multi-use development that would include an arena, convention center, hotel and retail space was proposed for downtown Pensacola in a private meeting by a real estate developer. Part of the financing would come from public funds but the details are still being discussed.

Santa Rosa County Moves Forward with $3.1M Project for Water Infrastructure
After hearing from more than a dozen concerned residents, Santa Rosa County Commissioners decided to commit available funds to control flooding issues that have plagued Pace residents since at least 2014. The $3.1 million project would construct stormwater collection, conveyance and retention ponds on county-owned property.

SEDD bringing 2 Percent Hotel Tax to Monroe, LA
In Monroe, Louisiana, a Nov. 18 ballot will contain a 2 percent hotel occupancy tax measure that, if passed, would create a stream of revenue for the Southside Economic Development District.

Over $1M in Infrastructure Upgrades Scheduled for Tangipahoa Parish, LA
More than four dozen miles of Tangipahoa's 20 most-traveled roads will be upgraded with enhanced safety measures, thanks to a nearly $1 million grant awarded to Tangipahoa Parish Government by the state.

Court Funds Used to Invest in Local Workforce Development in LA
A St. Landry Parish judge and attorney are committed to building a strong healthcare workforce in their parish, thanks to a recent investment in South Louisiana Community College's Opelousas campus. Judge James Doherty, with the support of attorney Patrick Morrow, recently awarded more than $80,000 in cy-pres funds to the SLCC Foundation in support of student scholarships in nursing and the potential expansion of the college's Registered Nursing program at the T.H. Harris campus.

$10M Program to Help LA Farmers with Flood Recovery
Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain's office says the grants come from federal flood recovery dollars set aside by Congress and overseen by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Farmers and ranchers in 51 Louisiana parishes could be eligible for grants from a $10 million program aimed to help with recovery from last year's flooding.
