Historic Tax Credits to Help Fund Seattle Asian Art Museum Renovation
Funding for the $49 million dollar project will come from a mixture of public and private funds. Up to $21 million will come from the city of Seattle, as the Asian Art Museum structure is owned by the city. Another $5 million will come from Historic Rehabilitation tax credits. This leaves $23 million for the museum to raise privately.
OR and WA Offer Top Tax Breaks to Data Centers
Oregon and Washington offer some of the most lucrative tax breaks in the nation to large data centers. Washington provided tax breaks worth $57.4 million to data centers in its last fiscal year and Oregon's incentives are valued at $33.7 million.
Spokane City Council Names Riverfront Park a ‘Brownfield'
Hoping to recoup some of the unexpected costs of soil cleanup during Riverfront Park's $64 million renovation, the City Council voted Monday night to declare the 42-year-old attraction a contaminated site.

In the last two years, the Department of Ecology has seen a 50 percent increase in the number of contaminated sites being reported and increased applications into the Voluntary Cleanup Program. Communities across Washington state are increasingly looking at vacant and shuttered former industrial sites as opportunities to spark revitalization.
WA to Promote Regional Economic Opportunities in Tech
Washington State and British Columbia have shared interest in creating regional economic opportunities for innovation in the technology sector. Government and business leaders are collaborating on the development of a new 21st century tech corridor to encourage meaningful and results-driven innovation and collaboration.
WA Announces $7M to Help Researchers in Clean Energy Technology
The Washington State Department of Commerce announced the next nine projects awarded matching grants from the state's Clean Energy Fund. The grants total just over $7 million and will be matched by another $12.3 million in non-state funding as spelled out in the winning project proposals.
