The CDFA Minnesota Financing Roundtable is dedicated to developing a sustainable economic development finance industry for the state of Minnesota. The Roundtable brings together development finance leaders from around the state to educate participants on important news and research from the field. Join CDFA in an overview of the roots and basic principles of the development finance industry with a discussion on the concepts behind building a comprehensive financing strategy. The 2016 CDFA Minnesota Financing Roundtable Conference marks the first annual event in the state.

Bond financing remains the bedrock development finance tool for economic development. This session will focus on how this long-standing tool can be used today to provide a significant portion of a project’s capital stack with a special focus on bond financing programs in Minnesota. Presenters from bond agencies and capital market firms will walk through bond deals and explore strategies for maximizing the tool throughout the state.

Tax credits have been used by both the Federal and State government as a method to influence businesses to take certain actions, such as locating to specific underserved areas, rehabilitating historic properties, expanding business’ research and development, investing in new technologies, and increasing the supply of affordable housing. They are a flexible tool which often pushes a project into viability. In this session, learn how a variety of tax credits are being used to help finance successful community development projects in Minnesota.
