CDFA-Stifel Nicolaus Innovative Deals: Retail Presentation
During this installment of the CDFA-Stifel Nicolaus Innovative Deals Webcast Series, we featured the latest in downtown retail development. Ketan Gada from the District of Columbia and Ken Krombeen and Tammy Hopman from the City of Grandville, MI highlighted two recent deals and discussed how the financing was assembled.

Great Lakes Launches "Develop Michigan"
Develop Michigan is an innovative nonprofit development finance organization formed through a partnership between the Michigan Strategic Fund, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Great Lakes Capital Fund and the Development Finance Group.

Public-Private Energy Partnership Hailed
In 2010, Traverse City Light & Power, MLUI, SEEDS, the Department of Energy, Michigan Saves, and local contractors launched TCSaves—a program to help residents save energy and money. MLUI says TCSaves has improved the energy efficiency of 550 homes in Traverse City since then.

MSHDA's Michigan Mezzanine Investment Fund Gets OK
MSHDA board members gave final approval to the Michigan Mezzanine Investment Fund after Gov. Rick Snyder signed Senate Bill 347 into Public Act 116 of 2013. The moves give the green light to MSHDA's plan to create the Fund and attract outside capital to help fill the funding gap for commercial mixed-use and multifamily residential development in the state.

State Announces $100K for 30 Small, Detroit-area Food Ventures
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) announced $100,000 in grant money for Detroit's local food system at a press conference at Eastern Market on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Strategies for Renovation: Novogradac HTC Conference
The Novogradac Historic Tax Credit Conference, hosted by Novogradac & Company LLP, highlighted dozens of recent and ongoing rehabilitation projects in the city and discussed strategies for maximizing use of a variety of tax incentives amidst a climate of changing federal and local regulations.
