New Application Process Takes Effect for New York Brownfield Cleanup Program
The Environmental Law Portal reports that the New York State Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP) reforms became effective July 1. The program's revised application implements new eligibility criteria to determine whether a property can receive tax credits to remediate or redevelop the property.
Brownfield Bill Could Put Oregon Cities in the Land Bank Biz
New legislation is creating a way for local governments to create land banks to cleanup contaminated sites in Oregon. According to the Portland Business Journal, only 35 percent of sites in Oregon have been assessed for cleanup.
Senators Push Bill Updating Brownfields Program
According to The Hill, a bill to reauthorize the federal brownfields program has been introduced by senators on the Environment and Public Works committee. The program provides funding to cleanup former industrial sites where the land is too polluted for redevelopment.
