SC Approves Bond Package for Volvo
South Carolina approved $123 million bonds that the state can use to incentivize Volvo to build it's first North American auto plant, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The bonds would be used to pay for the site and road work for the $500 million plant.
Diocese of Charleston Leverages JEDA Bonds for Columbia, Ridgeland Schools
According to the Columbia Region Business Report, the Diocese of Charleston are leveraging $25 million in tax-exempt bonds to finance major school projects in Columbia and Ridgeland. The bonds were issued through the South Carolina Jobs-Economic Development Authority (JEDA).
Promise Zone Offers Rural SC Hope
A Promise Zone designation could offer a much needed economic boost to a six-county region of South Carolina, according to The Post and Courier. Although there is no up-front financial assistance with this designation, communities that apply will move toward the front of the line for available funds and programs.
Columbia's Historic Downtown Recognized Nationally
WACH FOX reports that a portion of Columbia's historic downtown is now listed on the national register of historic places. These sites will automatically qualify for 20% tax credits thanks to a local finance program.
