The Abatement Statement: New Rules for Abatement Incentives
According to Seyfarth Shaw LLP, the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASP) unilaterally acted to require governments to disclose in the notes of their financial statements information regarding all tax abatments. As a result, development authorities may be subject to the new abatement disclosure requirement.
North Augusta City Council Extends Debt Service Bond
North Augusta city council members voted to extend a temporary debt service bond that financed the construction of a parking garage. Additionally $3 million were added to the fund for water, sewer and related infrastructure.
Americus Loan Program Attracts Business
As reported by WALB News 10, a revolving loan fund operated by the City of Americus has spurred numerous local businesses to move their operations downtown.
