Google Expands in The Dalles
Google announced a $600 million expansion that will bring the company's estimated total investment in the Columbia Gorge up to $1.2 billion.

Bonds as the Bedrock of Development Finance
Bond financing remains the bedrock development finance tool for economic development. This session will focus on how this long-standing tool can be used today to provide a significant portion of a project's capital stack. In addition, the panel will explore redevelopment and the role that TIF and other bond development tools are playing in the redevelopment community. Duncan Brown with KeyBanc Capital Markets, John Finke with National Development Council, and Carol McCoog with Hawkins Delafield & Wood will walk through the bond financing process and explore strategies for maximizing this tool in Oregon.

Targeted Financing Strategies – TIF & Special Assessment
Tax Increment Financing and Special Assessment Districts have become powerful financing mechanisms which are available to help communities concentrate development opportunities into targeted locations. Within this session, Lew Bowers with Portland Development Commission, Peter Englander with Portland Development Commission, and Christine E. Reynolds with Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe will discuss their experience using these tools to catalyze public improvements that spur private investment.

Exploring New Markets Tax Credits in Oregon
Oregon is one of just a handful of states to unveil a state New Markets Tax Credit program. Paired with the federal NMTC program, this financing resource can make a difference in catalyzing business and real estate development. This session will explore how to access the new Oregon New Markets Tax Credit program as well as look at the federal program's interaction with the state structure. Representatives from Business Oregon and the tax credit community in the state will lead attendees through case studies and program overviews.

Supporting Rural and Small Town Development in the Beaver State
Urban communities are not the only places looking for help to fund economic development: rural communities and small towns are also in need of financing strategies. A number of creative and important financing tools exist to assist rural and small town development, so join Camron Doss with U.S. Small Business Administration and Vicki L. Walker from the U.S. Department of Agriculture as they explore the cutting-edge strategies driving development in the state.

Nation's Best: MAX Blue Line Sparks Billions in Development
According to More Development For Your Transit Dollar, a report from the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy, Portland's MAX Blue Line generated $6.6 billion worth of new development, adding jobs and revitalizing those transportation corridors, while also resulting in less roadway congestion.
