JEDA Provides $20M in Bond Funding for Belton Preparatory Academy in South Carolina
The South Carolina Jobs-Economic Development Authority (JEDA) has issued almost $20 million in Educational Facilities Revenue Bonds for new facilities for a 5-year-old public charter school in Belton. The financing will pay for the acquisition, design, and construction of classroom and athletic facilities for Belton Preparatory Academy at 3201 Highway 29 North in the Anderson County community to accommodate increased enrollment.

Department of Energy Awards $90M for Updated Energy Code Implementation
The U.S. Department of Energy announced $90 million in competitive awards to help states, cities, tribes, and partnering organizations implement updated energy codes for buildings. Funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, these awards will support 27 projects across 26 states and the District of Columbia to ensure buildings meet the latest standards for energy efficiency — reducing greenhouse gas emissions and lowering energy bills for American families and businesses.

Virginia Invests SSBCI Funds in Cloud Software Company
Virginia Venture Partners, the equity investment program of Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation (VIPC), announced an investment in OpsCanvas. OpsCanvas centralizes software deployment operations into an intuitive, visual user interface that simplifies the complexities of modern cloud deployments. VIPC's investment draws upon funds made available through the U.S. Treasury Department State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) Program.

Construction Starts on Equitable Transit-Oriented Development Project in Chicago, IL
City officials joined Brinshore Development and the Michaels Organization to start construction today on Westhaven Park IID, a $50 million, equitable transit-oriented development project. City financial support includes $10 million in TIF assistance, $12.8 million in Low-Income Housing Tax Credit equity, and a $6.2 million multi-family loan. Other funding sources include a $13 million CHA loan, $1.1 million in donations tax credit equity, and a $5 million private mortgage loan.

Michigan Legislature Finalizes State Agriculture Budget
The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will receive $92.7 million of the general funds. Among the new funding initiatives is the Agricultural Climate Resiliency Program, established with $7 million to promote the usage and implementation of best regenerative agricultural farming practices and new technologies related to environmental sustainability, including measures to address the impacts of climate change.

Financial Assistance for USDA Farm Loan Borrowers Who Have Faced Discrimination
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the opening of the financial assistance application process for eligible farmers, ranchers, and forest landowners who experienced discrimination in USDA farm lending programs prior to January 2021. Section 22007 of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) directs USDA to provide this assistance.

The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is seeking a CDA Lending and Risk Analyst II/Energy Loan Underwriter.
