Picture Becoming Clearer for the Inflation Reduction Act Tax Credits
The Inflation Reduction Act changed a wide range of tax laws and includes over $320 billion in new and expanded incentives for energy efficiency, renewable and clean energy investments, fleet decarbonization, infrastructure improvements, and other sustainability-related investments. The effective dates of various provisions began applying on January 1, 2023, and under the IRA, the changes will be implemented over an approximately 10-year plan period.
Churchill Stateside Group Closes $16M in Construction in Knoxville, TN
Churchill Stateside Group, LLC, a real estate and renewable energy financial services company, is pleased to provide the financing for a new-construction affordable housing community in Knoxville, Tennessee. The apartment community will consist of 112 units catering to family tenancy. The improvements will be constructed utilizing equity from the sale of 4% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits; issuance of private activity bonds; and CSG's Private Tax-Exempt Loan Program.
New Bill Would Allow Washington Schools to Use P3 For Energy Savings Projects
House Bill 1777 was passed unanimously by the state House. The bill, which deals with financing for school capital projects, was cosponsored by state Rep. Joel McEntire, R-Cathlamet, of the 19th Legislative District. According to McEntire, the program HB 1777 would create could be used to fund projects schools need. Their energy savings would be used to pay the cost over time.
Over $127M Awarded to Rural Indiana Communities for Infrastructure Projects
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announced that $127.6 million in federal transportation funding is being awarded to 38 cities, towns, and counties across rural Indiana to invest in local road and bridge improvements, as well as sidewalk and trail projects.
CommonBond Communities Plans Affordable Housing in Minneapolis, MN
The apartment building would have around 120 units offering several levels of affordability, including some reserved for households that previously experienced homelessness. The total cost of the development is estimated to be roughly $48 million. Of this, up to nearly $33 million would be eligible for TIF financing.
Wilson Lofts Construction Completed in Wilson, IA after Nearly a Decade
A project nearly 10 years in the making is officially completed in Clinton. Overall, the project attracted over 12 layers of complex financing to make up the capital stack and includes Federal NMTCs, State Historic Tax Credits, Federal Historic Tax Credits, TIF from the City of Clinton, Brownfield/Grayfield Tax Credits, and Downtown Revitalization Grant by the Iowa Economic Development Authority through the City of Clinton.
Worthington, OH Renovations for 'Premier' Park to be Financed by Bonds
Worthington City Council is expected to approve the issuance of almost $4 million in bonds to continue upgrades at McCord Park. Phase one was replacing the playground outside the center, re-locating the little train caboose, and adding a shelter house and new ball fields. Phase 2 calls for renovating four baseball/softball diamonds, replacing nearby restrooms and a storage building, and completing a half-mile of multi-use trail around the park.
Illinois Climate Bank Announces Over $250M in Climate Finance Achieved in First Year
The Illinois Finance Authority, in its role as the State Climate Bank, announced a landmark year of deploying over $250 million in private capital to further clean and sustainable development projects. The IFA Climate Bank is holding public hearings and stakeholder meetings as it crafts applications for up to $1.3 billion in federal funds to advance clean energy, climate, and equity goals as outlined by Illinois' Climate and Equitable Jobs Act through climate finance and program deployment.

Lower-Cost Options Unveiled for Austin Light Rail Project
Austin transit officials offered scaled-down options for a partly bond-financed light rail system Tuesday as escalating costs pressure the project financially and politically. The Austin Transit Partnership, which was created by the city and its Capital Metro Transportation Authority to build Project Connect, unveiled five, lower-cost options for the system.
