Council Bluffs, IA Accepts Big Check from EPA for Brownfield Cleanup
Council Bluffs accepted a $500,000 grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for cleanup of the former Reliance Battery Manufacturing Company site. Council Bluffs is one of 265 communities awarded funds from the $254.5 million in Brownfields grants.

Phoenix Preparing $500M Bond Package Ask
The City of Phoenix has begun creating a $500 million bond package it will put before voters in November 2023 to fund a variety of construction and renovation projects that have yet to be identified. The package is the city's first general obligation bond package since 2006.

Brownfields' Revolving Loan Fund to Be Launched This Year in Williamsport, OH
An $800,000 grant which the county received from the federal EPA several years ago will be used to establish a revolving loan fund to clean up Brownfield sites in the county. The program is expected to be launched some time this year.

Indiana to Receive Investment in Lead Service Lines and Water Infrastructure
Indiana will receive $127 million in federal funding every year for the next five years from the recently passed infrastructure law to address lead pipes and wastewater issues. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael Regan called for the money to be invested in underserved communities. A majority of the money will go to the State Revolving Fund Loans Programs.

Mayor Jones in Missouri Sees Guidance from ARPA Survey
As the City of St. Louis deals with an unprecedented windfall in federal COVID-19 relief funds, Mayor Tishaura Jones has a new tool to help gauge local priorities: a survey of a broad group of residents and other stakeholders. The city's "ARPA Needs Survey" drew 4,215 responses, more than 77% of them from city residents.

Huntsville, AL Paints Positive Picture of TIF Performance
Finance Director Penny Smith said Huntsville TIFs have contributed directly to continued growth and public improvements. TIFs allow municipalities to borrow money for projects within a designated district and then repay bonds using property tax proceeds. Utilizing TIF proceeds also positively impacts the City's financial footing, as rating agencies view a successful TIF as a sign of a stable local economy.

Kroger Announces Multi-Million Dollar Dairy Investment in Ohio Plant
The Kroger Company has announced a 35,000 square-foot expansion at Tamarack Farms Dairy in Ohio to support the implementation of what it calls a  "state-of-the-art" aseptic milk line. The facility serves approximately 160 stores in Ohio and West Virginia and provides products for Kroger's e-commerce channel. The new line will allow the facility to support over 150 jobs.
