Challenging Projects, Diverse Communities, Creative Tax Credit Solutions
Tax Credits have been used by both the Federal and State government as a method to influence businesses to take certain actions, such as locating in specific areas, hiring disadvantaged workers, expanding research and development, investing in new technologies, and increasing the supply of affordable housing. They are a flexible tool which often pushes a project into viability. In this session, Jetson Hollingsworth with Butler Snow, Dale Royal with Invest Atlanta and Jim Tinsley with Alpharesults will explain how a variety of tax credits are being used to help finance community development projects in rural, small town and urban settings.
GeorgiaTrend's 2014 Small Business Guide
GeorgiaTrend Magazine released the 2014-2015 Small Business Guide. This is an annual guide to starting and growing a small business in Georgia. The guide includes information about financing programs from the state and SBA.
Governor Deal Signs Legislation Boosting Georgia Downtowns
The Georgia Department of Community Affairs issued a press release announcing that Governor Deal signed into law HB 128. HB 128 created the new Georgia Downtown Renaissance Fund and empowers Georgia cities to revitalize area downtowns.
Georgia Direct Financial Incentives Available for 2014
Area Development Online published a partial listing of Georgia's incentive programs to initiate new business and commercial investment. Information was provided to Area Development by the state's economic development or commerce agency.
Business Facilities 2014 Awards Recognize CDFA Members
Business Facilities released their 2014 Economic Development Awards, which focus on achievements in targeted incentives, cluster development, alternative energy and other categories. CDFA is proud to announce that a number of our members from across the country are recognized for these awards.

Georgia Municipal Association released a fact sheet providing background information for the programs available through GA Downtown Renaissance Act. The Georgia Downtown Renaissance Act affirms the importance of Georgia's downtowns by offering state tax incentives for private sector investments within clearly defined downtown boundaries called Renaissance Districts.
