Gov. John Kasich and JobsOhio announced 800 new manufacturing jobs tied to a Chinese auto-glass company moving into the former General Motors plant in the Dayton suburb of Moraine.

Thomas Waltermire, CEO of Team Northeast Ohio, told the Richland Community Development Board this week that the county's professionalism and responsiveness to business opportunities is starting to pay off. Team NEO's focus is to market northeast Ohio to the world as an attractive place to bring business and invest.

A new fund has been created to help Ohio State University turn technologies into commercial applications that in turn will spur economic growth and create jobs in the state. OSU and the Ohio Third Frontier program have pooled $1 million to create the Technology Concept Fund, which is being managed by TechColumbus.

The Bond Buyer reports that states will be allowed to issue 5.2% more of private activity bonds in 2014, freeing money for projects that would otherwise be ineligible for tax-exempt financing. Included are graphics demonstrating the volume cap changes from 2013 to 2014 by state.

Franklinton Preparatory Academy opened just this year, but already has its sights on moving the charter into an abandoned public school building in April, thanks to closing a New Markets Tax Credit agreement for $7M, in addition to a state credit of $2.5M. The deal was closed by the Finance Fund.
