Muni market advocates won't try to pursue their goal as part of a package of tax extenders and technical corrections under consideration during the current lame duck session. The three-week session of Congress that convened this week may include passage of a tax bill released by Rep. Kevin Brady.

Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital has unveiled plans for a redevelopment of unprecedented scale. The project would turn a fading section of Winfield's Town Center into a medical and commercial district. To the west of the 390-bed hospital, a parking deck with about 1,000 spaces would alleviate a major parking problem at Central DuPage.

Dec. 31 is the deadline for Hu Honua Bioenergy to qualify for a federal tax credit of "upwards of $100 million," company President Warren Lee said. Through the federal investment tax credit, thirty percent of allowable development costs can be applied to a company's federal tax liability.

The California fires haven't sparked a sell-off in the secondary markets in a sampling of muni bonds in devastated areas.
