CDFA Recognizes Ravi Doshi as the Newest Graduate of the Prestigious DFCP Program
Congratulations to Ravi Doshi, Economic Development Officer & TIF Administrator for the City of Springfield, Illinois, the newest graduate of the prestigious Development Finance Certified Professional (DFCP) program. As a new graduate, Mr. Brooks joins the ranks of fellow graduates who are recognized as the most qualified leaders in the development finance industry.

Congressman Kildee Introduces Bill to Help Replace Lead Pipes
With bipartisan support, Congressman Dan Kildee (D--MI-8) introduced H.R. 1407, a bill that will allow public water utilities to issue bonds to finance the removal of private lead service lines and bypass the IRS' "private business use test." Removing the barrier will help more communities access low-cost financing for lead service line replacement and comply with federal drinking water standards.

Now Accepting Applications for the Caren S. Franzini Fellowship
The Caren S. Franzini Fellowship was created to build leadership positions for women in the field of development finance and to inspire them to embody Caren's spirit and professionalism. Franzini Fellows accepted into the program must be employed by a CDFA member and have worked in the development finance field for less than 10 years. Applications are being accepted through Friday, April 7, 2023.

Tennessee Brownfield Bill Funnels Millions into Polluted Properties
Tennessee legislative committees are moving forward with a bill that would give money to communities that want to clean up abandoned and polluted properties, but not all counties will have the same opportunity to obtain funding from the emerging Brownfield Redevelopment Area Fund and Grant Program.

CDFA Community Facilities Technical Assistance Program for Tribal Communities - Now Accepting Applications!
Funded by the USDA, targeted technical assistance is available to help six to eight tribal communities use the USDA Community Facilities Program to address the economic problems created by declining or non-existent community and/or government infrastructure. Eligible communities must have a population of no more than 20,000. Apply today!

$21M Acquisition Financing for Seniors Housing Development in Nashville, TN
Bellwether Enterprise Real Estate Capital LLC (BWE) has arranged a $21 million bridge loan for the acquisition of Nashville Christian Towers, a 175-unit affordable seniors housing development in Nashville, TN. BWE secured the loan, which carries a 12-month term and an available 12-month extension, on behalf of the borrower, Envolve Communities. Envolve plans to redevelop the property with proceeds from a 4% LIHTC execution and tax-exempt bonds.

Maryland Invests $250K in SSBCI Funds in Woman- and Minority-Led Startup
TEDCO, Maryland's economic engine for technology companies, announced a recent $250,000 investment in NasaClip, a woman- and minority-led startup based in Baltimore, MD, which created a new device to assist in a painless, hands-free method for stopping nosebleeds. This investment came from TEDCO's State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI).

Illinois expects another $575 million of general fund revenues in the current fiscal year as steady income and sales tax collections through February pushed worries over an economic slowdown and the impact of a potential recession further out on the horizon.

Vermont Voters Approve Wastewater Bond Issuance
Voters in South Burlington, Vermont, approved a $34 million wastewater bond proposal on Tuesday, the largest of several similar local referendums approved statewide. The South Burlington wastewater bonds will fund overhauling and replacing pumps that serve the Bartlett Bay Wastewater Treatment Facility, which provides service to nearly all of South Burlington's 20,282 residents.
