Business Oregon Announces 2016 Oregon Brownfields Conference
Business Oregon, the state's economic development agency, has announced the 2016 Oregon Brownfields Conference. The Conference will be May 16 to May 17 and will offer learning and networking opportunities for those working to make contaminated properties economically viable for reuse.

OR Legislature Commits $7.4M to Advanced Manufacturing Research Center
South County Spotlight reports that the Oregon Legislature has committed $7.4 million to help build an Advanced Manufacturing Research Center in Columbia County, coupled with $9.4 million in Portland Community College bond money already set aside for the facility.

OR Senate Passes Bill to Spur Brownfields Clean Up and Redevelopment
Oregon Economic Development Association announced that the State Senate had unanimously passed a bill that will allow local governments to incentivize environmental cleanup on brownfield sites, supporting public health, and spurring economic and housing developments throughout the state.

OR Passes Utility-Scale Solar Incentives
The Oregon Senate passed House Bill 4037, which creates a $0.005/kWh incentive for utility-scale solar installations between 2 MW and 10 MW. The bill passed the Oregon House in late February and now awaits the governor's signature.

Portland Mayor Announces Affordable Housing Plan
The Portland Tribune reports that mayoral candidate Jules Bailey has released a comprehensive plan for creating more affordable housing, admits an ongoing housing affordability crisis.

USDA Approves $11M Biorefinery Loan in Rural OR
OregonLive reports that the USDA has recently approved an $11M loan for a project to build a biorefinery in Boardman that's designed to convert farm waste into natural gas and liquid fertilizer, spurring economic development and create new markets throughout the state.

Business Oregon Surpasses $300M in Water Systems Funding
Business Oregon recently announced that funding for Oregon water systems recently surpassed a milestone of $300 million in funding, most recently providing funding to the City of Lebanon for a water treatment plant and water intake system.
