Illinois Sets $1B G.O. Sale in February After Pension Fix
Proceeds of the negotiated sale will finance capital projects through the Illinois Jobs Now program. The deal will be Illinois's second since lawmakers in December broke years of political gridlock to bolster the worst-funded U.S. state pension system, intended to save $160 billion over 30 years.
Quinn Announces $629K in Infrastructure Investments in Central IL
The investments were made under the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO)'s Community Development Assistance Program, which targets areas with populations of less than 50,000 that are outside of urban counties. Most of the money is for design work on water and sewer lines, with a portion dedicated to emergency needs.
State PAB Volume Caps Jump for 2014
The Bond Buyer reports that states will be allowed to issue 5.2% more of private activity bonds in 2014, freeing money for projects that would otherwise be ineligible for tax-exempt financing. Included are graphics demonstrating the volume cap changes from 2013 to 2014 by state.
Village Takes TIF Action to Renovate Former Grocery Store
Rather than wait for economic development, the Kirkland Village Board in Illinois is putting tax increment financing dollars to work as part of a proactive effort to spur downtown revitalization and growth in the community.
