Venture Activity Down in OR
Just thirty-four Oregon companies took venture capital investments last year, the lowest number since 2010. In similar fashion venture investment in Oregon slid 28 percent in 2016, to $186 million, the lowest number in 4 years.
EPA Cleanup Superfund May Support Development of Harbor Area
The state hopes to move as quickly as possible on the cleanup, to protect peoples' health and support economic development of the harbor area, where the impending Superfund project has cast a dark cloud over future use of the land and held back businesses from expanding.

Oregon should work to ensure better return on investment and transparency in the $340 million a year in tax breaks and cash incentives it provides to businesses, a new audit from the Secretary of State's office concludes.
OR Community Foundation Awards $20K Grant to Food System Network
In November, The Oregon Community Foundation Board of Directors approved $154,000 in grants to Central Oregon nonprofits, including a $20,000 grant to Oregon Community Food System Network to deliver training, program coordination, and capacity-building support to a network of organizations to address farm and food issues statewide.
Portland's South Waterfront Redevelopment is Within Reach
The property that now houses the Zidell barge business would be redeveloped to accommodate 2,600 residential units, 1.5 million square feet of office space, a grocery store, a retail anchor, restaurants, parking, a 200-room hotel, and three parks.
