CDFA Announces Winners of the Distinguished Development Finance State Agency Award
The CDFA Excellence in Development Finance Awards recognizes outstanding development finance programs, agencies, leaders, projects, and success stories. These awards honor excellence in the use of financing tools for economic development, as well as individuals who champion these efforts.

Savage, MN to Purchase Vacant Site for Redevelopment
The Savage City Council voted to authorize the city to purchase the property at 7369 Highway 13 W. The council previously discussed the purchase during a closed work session, and the city's Economic Development Commission also recommended purchasing the property.

Austin, MN's Immigrant Community Gets Economic Boost
Legal, economic and advocacy groups have joined together to provide Latino and other minority immigrants a step up in establishing new businesses in the Austin area through the Austin Area Minority Business Project.

AirCorps Aviation Uses PACE to Improve Energy Efficiency
A financing program through a Twin Cities agency is helping an energy efficiency project at AirCorps Aviation in Bemidji take off. The program, PACE, is in use by the aircraft restoration company for upgrades to its facility's lighting and insulation that will result in annual savings of $3,350.

DEED Announces $890K for 5 Redevelopment Projects
The agency awarded four grants under its Redevelopment Grant Program for two projects in Minneapolis and for projects in Hancock and Thief River Falls. In addition, DEED awarded a loan for a project in Mahnomen under its Demolition Loan Program.

Mall of America TIF Districts Set to Expire
The City of Bloomington, MN soon will get property tax revenue from the Mall of America for the first time since the megamall opened in 1992, potentially leading to lower homeowner property tax rates in the suburb.

DEED Receives Equity Grant Proposals Totaling $48.4M
Grant proposals were submitted to the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) to provide services to people of color, women, youth, people with disabilities and/or veterans in Minnesota.

Detroit Program Expanding Neighborhood Investment in Rustbelt
A union-led effort that's helping improve homes and create jobs in Detroit is being expanded to other rustbelt cities as part of a $2.1 billion effort to help communities struggling with aging neighborhoods, disinvestment and unemployment.
