City of Hutto, TX, Moving Forward on Bond to Improve Downtown
After almost 10 years, the City of Hutto, TX, is finally moving forward with a bond project to make improvements to the main street in downtown. Voters approved the East Street Improvement Project back in 2009, but nothing's happened until now.

Houston Area Developers Get Thumbs Up on Bonds to Fund Magnolia Ridge
Third time was the charm for the developers of master-planned community of FM 1488 after the Magnolia City Council agreed to issue about $2 million in bonds to help fund the continued development of Magnolia Ridge.

USDA Loans Expand Rural Broadband Infrastructure in CA, IL, IA, and TX
Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue has announced that USDA is awarding four loans to help provide broadband service in rural portions of California, Illinois, Iowa and Texas.

TX Bill Will Create RLF for Port Improvements
The bill will authorize a RLF for ship channel improvement projects that have been authorized by Congress. Such projects are expensive, and they generally require a port authority or state agency to pay 35 to 50 percent of the costs, according to a report from the Senate Select Committee on Texas Ports.

LEED-Certified Steel Mill Looking to Move to Brownsville, TX
The Port of Brownsville is closer than it's ever been to finally landing a steel mill, something it's been pursuing for decades. Brownsville is one of two finalists for a $1.5 billion, advanced flex steel mill identical to Big River Steel's new plant in Osceola, Ark., the world's first LEED-certified facility of its kind. Big River is pursuing incentives worth at least 10 percent of the project's $1.5 billion cost, or $150 million.

CDFA Summer School is a week long series of courses presented by the CDFA Training Institute. These courses qualify for the CDFA Training Institute's Development Finance Certified Professional (DFCP) Program. Participants may register for one, two, or three courses during CDFA Summer School. Complete three courses, and you will have fulfilled half of the requirements for the DFCP Program.
