Spokane, CA Issues $200M in 'Green Bonds'
Spokane, California is excited to be at the forefront by using green bond finance. The $200M will be spent in the next three years on two water projects. The city was given ratings of Aa2 and AA by Moody's and S&P respectively.
California's New TIF Law Could Unlock Billions
California Governor Jerry Brown signed a new law to facilitate infrastructure financing. The new law is expected to revitalize the practice of tax increment financing in California. New features of the law include expanding the range of infrastructure projects that are eligible for support and lowering voter-approval thresholds, among other improvements.
GO-Biz Receives 286 Applications for CA Competes Tax Credit
According to CALED, GO-Biz received 286 applications for the most recent California Competes Tax Credit application period as part of the Governor's Economic Development Initiative. GO-Biz will evaluate the most competitive applications based on factors including total jobs created, total investment, average wage, economic impact, and strategic importance. The final decision on whether to award a tax credit will be made by the California Competes Tax Credit Committee at a meeting on January 15, 2015.
UCLA Announce $15M Self-Replenishing Fund for Energy Projects
UCLA officials announced the creation of a $15M "self-replenishing fund" to support energy efficiency projects. The initial funding will come from bond financing, then the savings on operational cost from the projects will be added back into the fund to support other projects.

CDFA Announces USDA Rural Development Partnership
CDFA is excited to announce a two-year partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development. This initiative will first focus on an increase in development finance education and resources for USDA's internal staff of 3,800+ field representatives. The initiative will also promote USDA funding and financing best practices for rural communities.
