Xcel to Build $1B Wind Farm Project in CO Xcel Energy has filed a plan to build, own and operate a 600-megawatt wind farm and 90-mile transmission line in eastern Colorado. Xcel will receive federal tax incentives known as Production Tax Credits for the construction. Adams Co, CO Microloan Fund Receives $1M The Adams County Board of Commissioners, Adams County Economic Development, Colorado Enterprise Fund, and the North Metro Small Business Development Center have partnered to create the Adams County Microloan Fund. USDA Awards Fleming and Iliff, CO Research and Infrastructure Grants The USDA awarded the Town of Fleming a $27,000 research grant for a future wastewater project. The Town of Iliff was awarded $754,000 for current work on their wastewater system Mesa Co., CO Organizations Collaborate on Economic Development The Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce, Grand Junction Economic Partnership, and the Business Incubator Center have signed an MOU outlining individual roles and responsibilities for economic development in Mesa County. CO Lawmakers Pass Bill on Special Districts The Colorado House and Senate unanimously passed legislation designed to validate previous elections of special districts and protect them from legal challenges to their ability to create districts and issue tax-exempt bonds. Fast-Growing Five Points Wants Its Own Business Improvement District Property owners in the fast-growing neighborhood want to put together a Business Improvement District (BID) to promote and maintain the Welton Street Corridor. $3.5B CO Roads Bond Bill Rejected Democratic lawmakers have killed a $3.5 billion, Republican-backed roads bonds measure. The money would have helped tackle Colorado's $8 billion road infrastructure deficit. CO Court Case Puts Spotlight on Special Districts That Issue Munis A broad ruling by the Colorado Court of Appeals in a case of a developer's egregious fraud has sent lawyers to the state's General Assembly for legislation to protect existing special districts that issue tax-exempt bonds. Denver's New Downtown-to-DIA Rail Line Running The Denver A-Line now has a commuter rail line running 23 miles between downtown Denver Union Station and Denver International Airport. The addition is part of a $2.2 billion public-private partnership.
