Illinois House Passes Clean Water Initiative Expansion
Governor Pat Quinn issued this statement regarding Illinois House passage of a bill to expand the Illinois Clean Water Initiative to include stormwater and green infrastructure projects, swelling the amount available from $1B to $2B.
TIF Grants Help Small Business with Building Improvements
The Journal Gazette & Times-Courier reports that the Charleston City Council approved all of its TIF grant applications for the year, allocated over $50K for building and facade improvements within the TIF district.
Gov. Quinn Announces Illinois' First Social Impact Bonds
Gov. Quinn launched the Pay for Success program to provide resources to address community needs while decreasing long-term negative outcomes that are costly for taxpayers. The program invests private dollars into proven social programs, which are then paid back by the state when results are achieved and long-term savings are realized.
IL Transportation Secretary: Proposed Budget Key to Progress
The Sun-Times covers Illinois Transportation Secretary Ann Schneider's opinion on the impact of Gov. Quinn's proposed budget on the state's transportation infrastructure. The Secretary backs the plan, citing the stability needed for big projects to keep momentum.
Congressional Members Introduce New SSBCI Bill
Senate and House members introduced the Small Business Access to Capital Act, which would re-authorize Treasury's SSBCI program. The bill will provide a new $1.5B in funding for small business access to capital programs.
