U.S. EPA Announces Remaining $20B Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund Competitions
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) launched two grant competitions for $20 billion under the historic $27 billion Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, an Inflation Reduction Act program. Together these competitive grant opportunities will mobilize private capital into clean technology projects to create good-paying jobs and lower energy costs for American families, especially in low-income and disadvantaged communities.
Arizona to Receive $61M Under IIJA for Transportation Projects
Arizona Senators Kyrsten Sinema and Mark Kelly announced RAISE grants for transportation projects in Phoenix, Cochise County, Navajo Nation, Pima County, and Yuma County totaling $60.7 million. The transportation projects range from enhancing pedestrian and bicycle facilities to connecting communities by constructing new roadways to making much-needed improvements along highways – all increasing safety, efficiency, and accessibility in Arizona communities.
U.S. Department of Commerce Announces $42B for Broadband Projects
The U.S. Department of Commerce's National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) announced how it has allocated funding to all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and five territories to deploy affordable, reliable high-speed Internet service to everyone in America. States, D.C., and territories will use funding from the $42.45 billion Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to administer grant programs within their borders.
White House Announces $73M in SSBCI Funds for Tribal Small Businesses
The White House announced the approval of the first 15 State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) awards for tribal governments funded by the American Rescue Plan, providing $73 million to 39 Tribal Governments to support Tribal enterprises and small business owners as part of President Biden's Investing in America agenda. These are the first-ever SSBCI awards directly to Tribal Governments.
U.S. Treasury Announces $196M for Broadband Infrastructure in Washington
The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced the approval of $195.7 million for high-speed internet projects in Washington state under the Capital Projects Fund (CPF) in the American Rescue Plan, which the state estimates will connect about 33,000 homes and businesses to affordable, high-speed internet.
New Native Financing Institution to Increase Access to Capital for Farmers and Ranchers
The Native American Agriculture Fund invests $12 million to stand up the first-ever Other Financing Institution (OFI) within the Farm Credit System. The OFI, Native Agriculture Financial Services, will begin by participating in loans with CDFIs investing in agriculture and rural economic development that support Native farmers and ranchers and then expand into providing credit and financial services for Native agriculture producers and Tribal governments.
