HUD Awards $500M to LA, TX, WV Flood Areas
HUD awarded $500 million to Louisiana, Texas and West Virginia to help the states recover from flooding events earlier this year. This funding is provided through HUD's Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery Program, which gives funds to assist communities experiencing the most serious damage to their housing stock.

$6.9M Renovation Project Planned in Elsa
The 300,000 square foot, two-story municipal complex is designed to house the police, fire, parks and recreation, and maintenance departments, Economic Development Corporation and the city library. The city will also install solar panels on the roof of the building. The entire project is estimated at about $6.9 million.

San Antonio Approves Tax Incentives to Lure Hollywood Filmmakers
San Antonio City Council members unanimously passed a five-year strategic plan  to provide a rebate to movie studios covering a minimum of 7.5 percent of the production costs, up from the previous 2.5 percent rebate the city had before the state lawmakers cut incentive funding last year.

El Paso Reveals Site for $180M Downtown Area
El Paso city officials announced the proposed location for the $180 million downtown arena. The arena will provide a venue for athletic, entertainment, cultural and recreational events south of the Convention Center.

Cibolo Approves Funding for $2M Sports Complex
A unanimous vote of City Council at its Sept. 27 meeting authorized City Manager Robert Herrera to execute a $3.625 million contract with W.R. Griggs Construction of Castroville to begin building the complex on acreage at Main Street and Schaefer Road, south of FM 78. Funding comes from a number of resources, including bond funding of $2.36 million and parkland fees of $400,000.

Developers Building 4 Gigawatts of Solar Power in TX by 2020
Developers are expected to build about 4 gigawatts of commercial-scale solar panel capacity in the Lone Star state by the end of the decade, according to a report by Bloomberg New Energy Finance Tuesday. Cheap solar energy threatens to depress electricity prices during peak midday hours, when generators profit most as consumers blast air conditioners, driving electricity demand higher.

$850M Bond to Benefit San Antonio
An $850M bond in San Antonio which focusses on infrastructure, flood control and parks generates objections from former councilmen but ultimately will be good for the city.

TX County Uses PACE to Finance Malls
Williamson County's PACE program recently closed on their first commercial projects collectively valued at nearly $2 million designed to promote environmentally conscious energy use.
