CDFA Awarded EPA Brownfields Training, Research, and Technical Assistance Grant The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded CDFA with a $997,572 Brownfields Training, Research, and Technical Assistance Grant. CDFA is one of only four organizations in the nation to receive funding through this opportunity. CDFA's cutting edge program will leverage the Council's vast network to build public-private financing partnerships for brownfield projects and programs nationwide. MEDC Crowdfunding Effort Targets Public Spaces According to MLive, MEDC announced a groundbreaking initiative in which individual investors can affect change in their local public spaces by contributing dollars that are matched by the state and earn incremental rewards. Michigan Shows the Power of Venture Capital NationSwell highlights Michigan's success with venture capital in this feature article. The state has increased VC by 84%, compared with a 13% drop nationwide, due to new enabling legislation and a high level of state involvement. IL, MI Find Matching Funds for Clean Energy Startups The U.S. Department of Energy announced a $745K grant to establish the Midwest Innovation Bridge, a clean-tech demonstration facility which also found $1.5M in private matching funds, according to eNews Park Forest.
