States Try to Make it Easier to Raise Money with Crowdfunding To date, thirteen states plus D.C. have passed laws or regulations allowing startups to use crowdfunding to raise money from investors with less red tape than companies with shareholders, according to GOVERNING. St. Lucie County, FL Launches New Commercial Retrofit Program The St. Lucie Board of County Commissioners and the non-profit Solar and Energy Loan Fund (SELF) announce the creation of a new PACE program in Florida. City of Miami Opens Nation's First Municipal EB-5 Regional Center According to the Miami Herald, Mayor Regalado announced the opening of a new city agency, the Office of International Business Development, to oversee its newly approved EB-5 visa regional center, the first run by a city. Miami's Overtown CRA Passes $43.5M Redevelopment Bond An ongoing dispute between city and county leaders forced the Board of Southeast Overtown/Park West CRA to come up with a short-term solution to avoid prolonging the wait for projects to begin. Jax Bridges Initiative to Generate $100M in Small Biz Deals As reported in this article from Jacksonville Business Journal, Jax Chamber is launching a public-private partnership called Jax Bridges to increase entrepreneurial access to capital, business exchange, and entrepreneur education.

Richard Neal (D-MA) introduced the Modernizing American Manufacturing Bonds Act (MAMBA) of 2014, H.R. 5319.
