CA Tightens Rules on Which Companies Handle Bond Sales
The treasurer's office says the state will now use only financial vendors that certify they do not contribute to bond election campaigns. Deputy Treasurer of Public Finance Tim Schaefer says the office hopes its actions will persuade local governments to follow suit.

CA Brings Home Four TIGER Grants, Three for Passenger Rail
The State of California earned four federal Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grants to improve transportation from the federal government totaling $40 million, Senator Diane Feinstein announced earlier today.

CA Governor Blasts Lenders over Failure to Embrace Green Initiatives
California Governor Jerry Brown told reporters that America's biggest mortgage lenders were "stubborn, unreasonable, and acting like East Coast Bankers". The state will begin supporting a new loan program for household energy improvements.

Berkeley Will Give Hotel Project a $13M Tax Break
The Berkeley City Council will give a downtown mixed-use hotel and retail development a $13 million tax break in order to make it feasible. The city would rebate $1.5 million a year for up to eight years, with adjustments for inflation, and would be capped annually at 50 percent of the Transient Occupancy Tax proceeds generated by the hotel.

CA Agencies Offer Grants, Loans for Water Projects
The State Water Resources Control Board and six other state and federal agencies are urging local leaders to seek grants and loans for projects related to drinking water, wastewater, water quality, water supply, energy and water use efficiency and flood control.

Federal, State Leaders Pitch for CA Water Tunnels
Representatives of California Gov. Jerry Brown and the Obama administration began making their pitch for approval Tuesday to build a pair of massive water tunnels under the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta.
