Birmingham, AL Approves $100K for New Farmers Market
The Birmingham City Council has voted to appropriate $100,000 for the Healthy Food Financing grant- money that will go toward erecting an open air farmers market at the downtown intermodal facility.
Vermont Farm Fund Lends Over $1M
Originally founded by Pete's Greens and the Center for an Agricultural Economy in 2011 in response to Tropical Storm Irene, the Vermont Farm Fund has grown to provide not only emergency loans to farmers who have experienced a fire, flood or storm, but also to help food-related businesses grow and expand.
$100K in Catalytic Investment Awards Announced By MGFF
The Michigan Good Food Fund is offering $100,000 in new Catalytic Investment Awards to grow Michigan food businesses. Awards will be announced mid-June.
New Low-Interest Loan Approvals Will Support PA Family Farms
The funding, approved through the First Industries program, will assist farmers with construction costs, help farmers start businesses, and enable them to acquire land to facilitate expansion. The First Industries program represents an important tool to support Pennsylvania's agricultural sector and help individual farmers across the commonwealth.
Farmers and Food Banks Reaping Rewards from Tax Credit
Approved growers are entitled to a state tax credit of up to 30 percent of the fair market value of a donation, not to exceed $5,000. The maximum amount the credit allows for all qualifying taxpayers is limited to $250,000 per fiscal year.
New Food Distribution Center Planned in San Antonio
H-E-B plans to build a new facility that will be used for distribution, manufacturing and food processing on San Antonio's East Side. The City Council is set to vote on whether to waive up to $1 million in development fees and up to $500,000 in San Antonio Water System water and sewer impact fees.
