USDA Invests $225M in Innovative Conservation Partnerships
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced that 88 high-impactprojects across the country will receive $225 million in federal funding as part of the USDA's Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP).

USDA Provides New Cost Share Opportunities for Organic Producers and Handlers
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced that starting March 20, 2017, organic producers and handlers will be able to visit over 2,100 USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) offices around the country to apply for federal reimbursement to assist with the cost of receiving and maintaining organic or transitional certification.

OR Community Foundation Awards $20K Grant to Food System Network
In November, The Oregon Community Foundation Board of Directors approved $154,000 in grants to Central Oregon nonprofits, including a $20,000 grant to Oregon Community Food System Network to deliver training, program coordination, and capacity-building support to a network of organizations to address farm and food issues statewide.

NIFA Announces $5M in Funding for Food, Energy, and Water Research
The $5 million will be used for research to better understand how food, energy and water systems interact, and how they can be sustained. This funding is made available through a federal research partnership between NIFA and the National Science Foundation (NSF).

The MDA recently awarded a grant for a study involving Mankato's site. The hub's former business planner/grants writer Jim Gehrke of Northfield is the recipient of a $100,000 Speciality Crop Block Grant. His grant is part of $1 million in funding designated for specialty crop growers.

The National Council of State Agricultural Finance Programs provides national representation for states that operate finance programs for farmers, ranchers, and the agricultural industry. Organized in 1984, the NCOSAFP is a non-profit organization that provides a forum for sharing ideas and serves as an information clearinghouse for its member state agencies. The Council provides information about state programs on farm finance issues and legislation developing in Washington, D.C.
