Novogradac NMTC Working Group Submits Recommendations
The NMTC Working Group made five recommendations for the New Markets Tax Credit program (NMTC) to further ensure the program's efficiency in delivering benefits to qualified businesses located in low-income communities and serving low-income populations around the country.

New Markets Tax Credit Program Compliance Report 2017
This report by Summit Consulting on New Markets Tax Credit Program examines whether the recipients of NMTC have complied with NMTC Program requirements, and whether the recipients' NMTC investment activities have aligned with the objectives of the NMTC Program, among other questions.

Report: NMTC Valuable to Rural America
The New Markets Tax Credit Coalition released a report detailing an unprecedented level of private investment in rural communities around the United States. The NMTC has helped rural communities increase healthcare access, financing 107 rural healthcare facilities or clinics, totaling nearly $800 million in project costs between 2003 and 2014.

"Feverish" 2017 Follows Record $7B NMTC Allocation
What do you get after making a record $7 billion in new markets tax credit (NMTC) allocation authority available in one round? A "feverish" year, said active NMTC investor panelists at the Novogradac 2017 New Markets Tax Credit Spring Conference in Washington, D.C.

LIHTC Has Bipartisan Support in Senate
Although it is a major component of the federal government's housing efforts, the credit faces two threats in tax reform: One is that lawmakers might eliminate it to pay for lower tax rates. The other is that successful tax reform that lowered rates would hurt the value of the credit — lower tax rates would mean the tax credit saves less money for investors.

$15M in LIHTC Support Affordable Housing in El Paso, NM
The El Paso Housing Authority has received $15 million in federal tax credits to help finance the redevelopment of the long-vacant Blue Flame office building into a 150-unit apartment building. Developers finance low-income apartment projects by selling the federal tax credits to companies that use them to decrease federal tax bills.

Five Years after Historic Boardwalk Hall Decision, HTC Market Healthy and Growing
Five years ago, the historic tax credit (HTC) market was disrupted by a landmark legal decision regarding an investor's stake in a project. Today, the industry has adjusted and grown–to record numbers.

Historic Tax Credit Study Shows Shreveport Success
In downtown Shreveport and across Louisiana the rehabilitation of historic districts through tax credits is working. The findings released in a study that was commissioned by the office of the Lieutenant Governor and carried out by PlaceEconomics, a Washington D.C. firm.

Why Main Street Doesn't See More Historic Tax Credit Financing
One strategy to meet threat of possible elimination of the federal historic tax credit (HTC) is legislation both houses have introduced, the Historic Tax Credit Improvement Act (HTCIA).
