Labeling Charter School Bonds as Social Comes With Risk
Comments from the CDFA//BNY Development Finance Webcast Series on the topic of Financing Charter Schools with Social Bonds made their way to the August Bond Buyer. CDFA members are very often the organizations tasked with financing charter school construction. Speakers in this session discussed how social bonds can be used to provide low-interest loans to high-performing public charter schools.
Lone Star PACE Facilitates $16.7M C-PACE Financing for Car Storage Project in Dallas, TX
Lone Star PACE, a leading administrator of Texas' Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy Program, announced it helped arrange $16.7M in C-PACE financing for Garages of America, a luxury car storage facility in the Dallas-area suburb of Carrollton. The 125,000-square-foot facility at 2308 and 2328 Marsh Lane will include 67 luxury garage suites, six flex-office units, and a secure indoor parking facility for up to 120 vehicles.

Feds Invest $2.5M to Support South Dakota Industrial Growth
U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo has announced the Department's Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $2.5 million grant to the city of Milbank, South Dakota to help build new roadways and utilities needed to expand the city's industrial park. This EDA investment will be matched with $615,400 in local funds and is expected to create 120 jobs and generate $8 million in private investment, according to grantee estimates.

Palatine, IL Commits TIF Funds for Cook, Cork & Fork Expansion
Palatine will contribute up to $54,000 in tax increment financing (TIF) funds toward the expansion of a downtown business. The village council voted to provide assistance to Cook, Cork & Fork, 34 W. Palatine Road, which offers gourmet kitchenware and cooking classes. The money will come in the form of a reimbursement from the Downtown TIF District Facade & Interior Building Improvement Grant Program.
CDFA Creates Strategic Plan for Louisville Metro Government
CDFA was honored to launch the Louisville Metro Government (LMG) Strategic Development Finance Framework we authored for LMG in early August. The plan was presented to community stakeholders in Louisville and is part of LMG's launch of their new economic development organization called LEDA. Our framework will guide their efforts to build development finance capacity and structure. Congratulations to our CDFA authors Toby Rittner, Fawn Zimmerman, and Andres Caro. Over $5.5M Awarded to Strengthen Tennessee Food Supply Chain Infrastructure
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) has a cooperative agreement with Tennessee under the Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure Program (RFSI). Through this agreement, USDA and the Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA) are working together to offer over $5.5 million in competitive grant funding for projects designed to build resilience across the food supply chain.
