"Brightfield" Solar Project on Former Brownfield Site in Illinois Completed
A leading cleantech integrator specializing in energy efficiency and renewable energy, and Inovateus Solar, a top U.S. solar engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company, announced the completion of their "brightfield" solar project in Danville, Illinois, which was built on a former General Motors Powertrain Division Plant turned brownfield site.

MEDC Approves Funding Support for Multiple Projects in Detroit, MI
The project is expected to generate a total capital investment of $27.9 million and create 45 full-time equivalent jobs, and will help meet demand for restaurant, housing, office, and parking space in the neighborhood. The City of Detroit Brownfield Redevelopment Authority today received MSF approval of $1,218,829 in state tax capture for the reimbursement of eligible brownfield activities at the site.

Contaminated Former Gas Station Site Near Ann Arbor, MI Could See New Development
The environmental cleanup of a former gas station just outside Ann Arbor is part of developers' plans to bring more commercial space to the property that has sat vacant for nearly a decade. A redevelopment proposal for the 1-acre property at 4025 Packard Road would bring 7,000 square feet of new, multi-tenant commercial space, including a drive-thru connecting with an existing retail building to the north and new parking.

Vulnerable Communities Poised for Big Solar Gains in Senate Bill
Low-income and other marginalized communities that have been largely abandoned in the clean energy revolution could see far more community solar projects and rooftop solar panels under the Senate-passed climate package. The Senate-passed bill provides bonus credits that could be applied on top of the 30% credit. For example, it would provide an extra 10% investment tax credit for projects either built on a formerly polluted brownfield site.

EPA Grants Tucson, AZ $1M Through Brownfields Cleanup Revolving Loan Fund
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted the City of Tucson $1 million through a Brownfields Cleanup Revolving Loan Fund. This will allow the city to provide six loans and two subgrants, which would revolve back into a fund supporting future Brownfields cleanups.
