Los Angeles, CA Could House Nation's Largest Green Hydrogen Infrastructure System
The Southern California Gas Company announced a plan to develop the nation's largest green hydrogen energy infrastructure system – the "Angeles Link" – which would deliver green hydrogen to the Los Angeles Basin region. Southern California Gas will submit the first phase of its plans to the California Public Utilities Commission today.

U.S. DOE Looks to Build Cyber Threat Detection Platform for Electric Grid
The Energy Department is planning to develop a common platform for detecting cyber threats across the nation's patchwork of electric utilities under a new plan galvanized by the bipartisan infrastructure bill and a cross-governmental effort to improve the security of critical operational systems.

ESG Bonds and Green Bonds May Help Colleges' and Universities' Sustainability Plans
As colleges and universities develop and implement sustainability plans to reduce their carbon footprint, there remains the question as to how to fund these sustainability plans. Influx of Federal Money Helps Fund New MBTA Bus Facility in Quincy, MA
Massachusetts is set to see $9.5 billion during the next five years as part of last year's federal infrastructure package. Baker said that more than $5 billion would go toward roads and bridges, $2 billion is for public transportation, and millions are dedicated to regional transit systems and climate resiliency.

House Committee Explores Cryptocurrency Energy Use, ESG Issues, and Opportunities
On January 20, 2022, the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce held a hearing on the energy consumption associated with cryptocurrency activity. Committee members discussed a wide range of topics: blockchain and its energy impact on the climate, how crypto mining can affect utilities' management of energy resources and ultimately the price consumers pay for their electricity, and much more.

U.S. DOE Awards $25M for Wave Energy Testing at First-in-Nation Oregon Facility
Just south of Newport, a new wave energy facility called PacWave is about a year away from being operational. It will be the first commercial-scale, grid-connected wave energy test site in the U.S. and one of few in the world. Researchers from across the country can test new technology at the wave energy test site Oregon State University is building near Newport.

Financing Complete for Landfill-Gas to Renewable Natural Gas Projects in North Carolina
Greater Commercial Lending (GCL), which provides loans to businesses and organizations in under-served and rural communities, has completed nearly $73 million in financing for two facilities in North Carolina that will turn a natural byproduct of landfills into renewable natural gas. The financing is guaranteed by the USDA and has made an important difference for the projects, from both business and efficiency standpoints.

Great Lakes Platform Helps Connect Green Investors with Regional Projects
The Great Lakes Impact Investment Platform is helping to promote investment opportunities that benefit the environment, including renewable energy, clean water, and ecological restoration. The platform features 40 projects representing nearly $4.5 billion in investments, including household energy efficiency retrofits, coal mine reclamation, and utility-scale solar development.
