Retiring Illinois Coal Plants Awarded Funding to Add Energy Storage
To boost this effort, the state's Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity announced $280.5 million in funding over ten years for the five plant sites. The finance comes from Illinois' Coal-to-Solar Energy Storage Grant Programme, which in part incentivizes companies to install energy storage at the sites of former coal plants.

How UConn Researchers Are Working to Solve the Nation's Energy Problems
Three new grants totaling $7.5 million from ARPA-E and the U.S. Department of Energy are enabling UConn researchers to conduct ground-breaking work on some of the nation's most pressing energy problems. Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy grants provide funding for the development of transformational technologies that provide new ways of generating, storing, and using energy.  

Oklahoma County Clean Energy Program Helps Bring More Apartments to Edmond
Oklahoma County commissioners approved two contracts under its Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy program last week, including a $5 million contract to provide funding to Rader Building Co. for a mixed-use development at 215 E Campbell St. in Edmond. The program allows developers to take advantage of special financing for improvements to energy efficiency, energy sources, water efficiency or building resiliency. 

First Solar Shingle Project Completed Under District's Solar for All Program
Today, the DC Sustainable Energy Utility, DC Green Bank, Flywheel Development, and SunStyle, alongside Ward 4 Councilmember Janeese Lewis George and other District elected and government officials, celebrated the completion of the first solar shingle project under the District's Solar for All program.

New Clean Energy Financing Kick-Starts Stalled Developments
More than $80 million in development, all of it stalled for months if not years, is set to start this summer after being given a boost from a new clean energy financing program created by Oklahoma County commissioners. The funding can provide up to 100% financing based on eligibility, no down payment, and if the property is sold, any remaining assessment can be passed on to the new owner. 

Indiana to Receive Investment in Lead Service Lines and Water Infrastructure
Indiana will receive $127 million in federal funding every year for the next five years from the recently passed infrastructure law to address lead pipes and wastewater issues. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael Regan called for the money to be invested in underserved communities. A majority of the money will go to the State Revolving Fund Loans Programs.

New Washington Law Will Help Grow State's Green Hydrogen Economy
On June 9, 2022, Senate Bill (SB) 5910 will take full effect, providing assistance and a host of incentives to the development of green hydrogen production in Washington. The Washington legislature passed SB 5910 to take advantage of funds available under the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which allocates $8 billion for the development of regional clean hydrogen hubs.
