Large Solar Projects in Southeast Ohio Spur Conflicting Feelings for Local Landowners
Ohio is experiencing a rush of interest from private energy developers looking to build utility-scale solar farms. These projects have raised concerns, often from surrounding landowners, about the impacts they will have on the natural landscape and on property values. Another common concern is the extent to which local communities can weigh in on these projects and how seriously this input is considered.

New National Electric Vehicle Programs Release Requests for Information
As part of the recently passed Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, two new electric vehicle programs will receive funds to address climate change by reducing carbon emissions. The National Electric Vehicle Program will provide funding to the States to strategically deploy EV charging infrastructure. In addition, the new law establishes a Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Program.

EPA Selects 39 Waterworks Projects to Apply for Billions in Financing
Local governments, agencies, and utility companies behind 39 major water and sewer projects in states across the U.S. can move ahead applying for billions of dollars in financing through a federal program that provides low-cost loans for waterworks infrastructure, the Environmental Protection Agency said Friday.

Indianapolis Seeks to Fund Affordable Housing in Hillside Amid Gentrification Fears

King County Sets the Standard for Clean Energy Financing
C-PACER programs, at a basic level, are an important tool to advance decarbonization in buildings because they provide a low-risk and low-cost financing solution for funding the improvements needed to drive down a building's carbon emissions. King County is the fourth county in Washington to pass an ordinance this year establishing a C-PACER program, following Whatcom, Clark, and Thurston counties.

DOE Awards Over $16M for 23 Projects That Will Reduce Carbon Emissions Across the Manufacturing Sector
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the REMADE Institute announced more than $16 million in research and development funding for 23 projects that will reduce energy use and carbon emissions associated with industrial-scale materials production, processing, and recycling. These projects will advance the technology needed to increase the reuse, remanufacturing, recovery, and recycling of industrial materials.

During Tough Times, C-PACE Financing Offers More Potential Ever, Experts Say
Shuttered during the pandemic, the historic Strand Theatre in Pontiac, Michigan, faced an uncertain future. The Strand was able to use C-PACE — commercial property-assessed clean energy financing — to retroactively fund and refinance those investments, essentially rolling the cost into their property taxes to be paid over time and freeing up cash for them to wait out the pandemic.

Four Area Organizations in PA Receive Funding for Community Revitalization Projects
Gov. Tom Wolf recently announced the approval of nearly $36 million to 220 community revitalization projects across the commonwealth through the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP), which supports nonprofits, businesses, and resident projects in distressed areas or low-income neighborhoods.

Patience and Persistence Pay Off as Biden Gets Infrastructure Deal Across Finish Line
