Biloxi, MS City Council Approves TIF Plan for New Medical Center
The Biloxi City Council passed a resolution for a $5 million Tax Increment Financing (TIF) plan for a new medical center in the Woolmarket community. The resolution could help construct the Tomaston Medical Park. Developer Best Holdings, LLC said 80 physicians and medical staff would work at the center.
Atlanta, GA Communities Receive $14.9M for Multi-Use Trail Network
The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), Clayton County, and the cities of College Park, East Point, and Hapeville, GA have received an additional $14.9 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to further develop the Flint River Gateway Trails, a planned 31-mile trail network in South Metro Atlanta. The $14.9 million in federal funds augments a $50 million grant the DOT awarded to ARC and the four communities.
Bayview Provides C-PACE Financing on Monterey Park, CA Multifamily
Bayview PACE provided $15.5 million in Commercial Property-Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) financing for Whitmore Villa, a $52-million multifamily development located in Monterey Park and developed by Chateau Group, on behalf of project sponsor GreenState Holdings, Inc. Located at 126 New Ave. in Monterey Park, Whitmore Villa will include 63 two-story units in two construction phases. The 23 units in Phase 1 will potentially be sold as condominiums.
Rural New Mexico Gets Disaster Relief for Economic, Workforce Development
Millions of federal dollars are heading to three rural communities in New Mexico to support disaster recovery and workforce development efforts. The U.S. Department of Commerce announced $2 million for the city of Raton, $1.1 million for Mora County, and $800,000 for Lincoln County. Raton's grant, matched with $500,000 in local funds, will help develop a media training center through equipment and building renovations. The work will create 35 jobs and generate $10 million in private investment.
Washington Launches Two Programs With $87M in SSBCI Funds
The Washington State Department of Commerce has launched the first of five planned small business loan and investment programs aimed at increasing access to capital for small businesses. A total of $163 million in funding comes from the U.S. Treasury's State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI). The first two SSBCI programs, the Small Business Flex Fund 2 ($63 million) and the Owner-Occupied Commercial Real-Estate Loan Program ($25 million) are now accepting applications.
Dallas, TX Passes $82M Bond Package for Affordable Housing and Homelessness
Voters in Dallas, TX, overwhelmingly approved a $1.25 billion bond package in a special election that will allocate approximately $82 million to increase the supply of affordable homes and help address homelessness. The package consists of 10 propositions that will collectively finance road improvements, city facilities, economic development, other local infrastructure, and housing. The package's $82 million for affordable homes marks a historic investment from Dallas.
What Now for the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund Green Finance Programs
Two Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) programs—the National Clean Investment Fund (NCIF) and the Clean Communities Investment Accelerator (CCIA)—total $20 billion and will rely on eight nonprofit investment coalitions to create a national clean energy finance network that drives investment in projects that meet GGRF's program objectives. While EPA is currently negotiating agreements, there are actions that advocates, community-based organizations and project developers, local and state government, and philanthropy can take now to maximize GGRF's impact in your community.
