Bank of America Mobilized and Deployed $250B in Sustainable Finance Capital in 2021
Bank of America announced today that it mobilized and deployed approximately $250 billion in sustainable finance activity for 2021. This company has made tremendous progress towards mobilizing and scaling capital deployment to drive environmental and social change in line with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Illinois State Senate Approves Energy Grid Reliability Task Force
The state senate has advanced a measure to create a task force to study electric grid reliability in light of the 2021 passage of the energy regulatory overhaul bill known as the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act. A House committee, meanwhile, began preliminary conversations about lifting the ban on new nuclear developments in Illinois.

CDFA Announces Infrastructure Finance Learning Series, in Partnership with EY
The CDFA Infrastructure Finance Learning Series, created in partnership with EY, of Ernst & Young Global Limited, is designed to help communities develop a comprehensive understanding of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), while providing guidance around planning and financing infrastructure projects.

An Electric Vehicle Future is on the Horizon in Washington State
State legislators set a new target earlier this month in the Clean Cars 2030 bill for all new vehicles sold in Washington to be electric-powered by 2030. The bill, part of the $16.9 billion "Move Ahead Washington" transportation package, was signed by Gov. Jay Inslee on Friday.

El Paso, TX School Districts Urged to Switch to Electric Buses Using $5B in Federal Funds
Congress passed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law in November 2021 which funds the EPA's Clean School Bus program. The EPA will dedicate half of the funding — about $438 million a year — to purchasing zero-emission electric buses. The other half will support purchasing "clean school buses" encompassing both fully electric options but also buses that burn alternate fuels to diesel.

EDA Invests in Coal Communities
Alejandra Y. Castillo, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development, recently visited Youngstown, Ohio, and Charleston, West Virginia. She toured EDA grant projects and participated in two events led by the Biden Administration's Interagency Working Group (IWG) on Coal and Power Plant Communities & Economic Revitalization.

Silicon Ranch Selects Company to Construct Regenerative Solar Project in Georgia
Infrastructure and Energy Alternatives, a leading infrastructure company with renewable energy and specialty civil expertise, today announced it has been awarded a contract by Silicon Ranch Corporation to construct the Cedar Springs Solar Ranch in Early County, Georgia. The 70-megawatt (MWAC) solar project will provide power to Green Power EMC, the renewable energy supplier for 38 Georgia electric cooperatives.

EPA Releases Memo Outlining Strategy to Equitably Deliver Clean Water Through IIJA
U.S. EPA issued a memorandum to guide collaborative implementation with state, local, and Tribal partners. EPA's memo is a key implementation step that outlines requirements and recommendations for the Drinking Water and Clean Water State Revolving Funds to ensure the country is working together to deliver clean and safe water and replace lead pipes for all Americans, especially disadvantaged communities.
