U.S. EPA Announces $7B Solar For All Program under Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) launched a $7 billion Solar For All competition to increase access to affordable, resilient, and clean solar energy for millions of low-income households. Created by the Inflation Reduction Act's Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF), the competition will expand the number of low-income and disadvantaged communities primed for residential solar investment by awarding up to 60 grants to create and expand low-income solar programs.

U.S. DOT Streamlines Application Process for $5.5B in Infrastructure Projects
The Department of Transportation (DOT) is taking applications for up to $5.6 billion in funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for projects of regional or national significance. This funding supports three major discretionary grant programs that involve surface transportation projects designed to strengthen supply chains, spur economic development, and improve safety and daily life.

USDA to Invest $500M in Biofuel Infrastructure
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that USDA plans to invest up to $500 million from the Inflation Reduction Act to increase the availability of domestic biofuels and give Americans additional cleaner fuel options at the pump.

U.S. Department of Commerce Announces $42B for Broadband Projects
The Department of Commerce's National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) announced how it has allocated funding to all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and five territories to deploy affordable, reliable high-speed Internet service to everyone in America. States, D.C., and territories will use funding from the $42.45 billion Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to administer grant programs within their borders.

U.S. Treasury Announces $196M for Broadband Infrastructure in Washington
The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced the approval of $195.7 million for high-speed internet projects in Washington state under the Capital Projects Fund (CPF) in the American Rescue Plan, which the state estimates will connect about 33,000 homes and businesses to affordable, high-speed internet.

Montana and North Dakota Receive $120M from Treasury for Broadband
The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced the approval of $119.9 million in federal funds for broadband infrastructure projects in Montana and $68.3 million for multi-purpose community facility projects in North Dakota under the American Rescue Plan's Capital Projects Fund.

Alaska to Receive Additional $100M for Broadband
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is awarding $100.5 million to facilitate and improve access to high-speed internet for Alaskans in rural communities. These awards are possible thanks to the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA)—and specifically through USDA's ReConnect Program, which aims to ensure high-speed internet for all communities across the United States. To date, Alaska has received more than $3.9 billion in infrastructure investments thanks to the IIJA.

Federal Transit Administration Announces $150M for Bus Rapid Transit in Pittsburgh, PA
The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced a $149.9 million construction grant award to Pittsburgh Regional Transit for the new Downtown-Uptown-Oakland bus rapid transit (BRT) line. Funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Downtown-Uptown-Oakland BRT project will provide fast, convenient transit for residents and commuters along a heavily congested corridor from Downtown Pittsburgh to Oakland. 

USDA Announces $714M in Grants and Loans for Rural Broadband
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced $714 million in grants and loans to connect thousands of rural residents, farmers, and business owners in 19 states to reliable, affordable high-speed internet. Funds for the grants were allocated by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

Pennsylvania to Receive $400M from Infrastructure Law to Plug Abandoned Wells
Under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Congress set aside $4.7 billion in 2021 to plug abandoned wells. That money started flowing to states last year. Pennsylvania has received $25 million and is on track to get another $375 million. Estimates for how many there are vary wildly, but the state thinks that 250,000 is a more likely total. So far, it has identified 27,449 orphaned wells—wells that have no owners—and has plugged another 3,346 of them, costing between $10,000 to $200,000 each.  

West Virginia Receives $4.3B to Plug Orphaned Oil Wells
West Virginia is receiving $4.3 billion from the Department of Interior (DOI) for plugging and remediating orphaned oil and gas well sites located in the Monongahela National Forest and Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge. This funding was made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and will reduce methane emissions, clean up the environment and help reinvigorate communities across West Virginia impacted by orphaned oil and gas wells.

U.S. DOE Announces $80M in Clean Energy Grants for American Manufacturers
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced $80 million in grant funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for small- and medium-sized manufacturing firms to accelerate the adoption of recommendations made by DOE to improve energy efficiency to lower costs and reduce industrial emissions. The grants support efforts to build a clean energy economy, revitalize American manufacturing, and create good-paying jobs in the United States. 

USDA Opens $1B Loan Program for Rural Renewables, Storage
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Rural Utility Service opened its platform for letters of interest for a $1 billion loan forgiveness program for renewable energy projects that will serve a mostly rural population. The window will remain open until September 29. USDA will then invite selected applicants to submit a full application. Projects that use wind, solar, hydropower, geothermal, or biomass generation are eligible under the Powering Affordable Clean Energy program.

U.S. EPA Provides $50M for Drinking Water Infrastructure in Underserved Communities
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced $50.4 million in annual funding to states and territories for communities most in need of access to clean and safe drinking water. The funding will support projects and activities in underserved, small, and disadvantaged communities to access and invest in water infrastructure and comply with the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA).

Pittsburgh, PA Receives $52M WIFIA Loan for Drinking Water Infrastructure
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a $52 million Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) loan to the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority. This investment will help upgrade and replace aging water infrastructure to ensure that residents and businesses can rely on safe drinking water. EPA estimates that associated infrastructure projects will create 500 jobs.

U.S. EPA Awards $500K for Environmental Evaluations in Puerto Rico
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that Leap Social Enterprise Inc. will receive a $500,000 Brownfields Assessment grant to conduct environmental assessments and develop approximately eight cleanup plans at high-priority properties in Puerto Rico. The target areas for this grant are Río Piedras, Carolina, and the PR-198 corridor between Juncos and Humacao. Among the priority sites are schools that have closed and are not currently in use.

U.S. Department of Transportation Provides $45M Loan for Rural Road Safety in Oklahoma
The U.S. Department of Transportation announced that its Build America Bureau has provided a $45 million low-interest loan to the Oklahoma Capital Improvement Authority (OCIA) on behalf of the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) to improve rural road safety. By providing Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA) loans and other financing, the Bureau helps communities expedite infrastructure projects and reduce project costs.   

U.S. EPA Announces $500K of Brownfields Funding for West Virginia Counties
Brooke and Hancock Counties, WV will benefit from a $500,000 Brownfields assessment grant to the Business Development Corporation of the Northern Panhandle (BDC). The grant funds will be used to assess former industrial properties for redevelopment and revitalization projects. Brownfields funding was essential in remediating the site into what is now the Beech Bottom Industrial Park. The new facility will employ 100 workers, contributing to the revitalization of the area.

Missouri Regional Airport Receives $700K Brownfields Grant
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a $700,000 grant to the Marion-Ralls Regional Port Authority in northeastern Missouri. The funding is being rewarded through the Brownfields Assessment Coalition Grant program. The funds are earmarked for environmental site assessments.

City of Clinton, IA Awarded Brownfields Cleanup Grant
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 7 presented a $500,000 ceremonial check to the City of Clinton, Iowa as a Brownfields Cleanup Grant selectee. Grant funds will be used to clean up the South 4th Street Property located on the 1000 block of South 4th Street. The cleanup site consists of two- and three-story buildings that were used for residential apartments and retail businesses, including a grocery store, laundromat, hardware store, and restaurant.
