Greater Commercial Lending Completes $36.7M in Financing for Iowa Poultry Processing Plant
Greater Commercial Lending, which provides government-guaranteed loans to businesses and organizations in under-served and rural communities, has completed $36.7 million in financing for Pure Prairie Poultry in Charles City, Iowa. The loan package, guaranteed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) through the Food Supply Chain Guaranteed Loan Program, will help renovate and expand the existing poultry processing plant and purchase additional equipment to ramp up operations to full capacity.
$45M Loan for Oklahoma Rural Two-Lane Advancement and Management Plan Project
The U.S. Department of Transportation announced that its Build America Bureau has provided a $45 million low-interest loan to the Oklahoma Capital Improvement Authority (OCIA), on behalf of the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) to improve rural road safety.
$11M in Funding to Establish a Revolving Loan Fund for Two Rural Kentucky Projects
One project receiving funding in Kentucky is the Meat and Poultry Intermediary Lending Program, spearheaded by Community Ventures Corporation. The initiative will receive $10 million to establish a revolving loan fund aimed at supporting the startup, expansion, and ongoing operations of meat processors throughout the state. By providing additional financing options, the revolving loan fund seeks to increase the processing capacity of Kentucky's meat and poultry industry, ensuring its resilience, diversity, and security.
USDA Opening $1B Loan Program for Rural Renewables, Storage
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Rural Utility Service will open on June 30 its platform for letters of interest for a $1 billion loan forgiveness program for renewable energy projects that will serve a mostly rural population. The window will remain open until September 29. USDA will then invite selected applicants to submit a full application. Projects that use wind, solar, hydropower, geothermal, or biomass generation are eligible under the Powering Affordable Clean Energy program.
U.S. Sen. Manchin Announces $17.3M for Seven West Virginia Rural Development Projects
U.S. Senator Joe Manchin, member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced more than $17 million from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development program for seven projects across West Virginia. This funding will support renovating a building into a health clinic to expand Boone Memorial Hospital, upgrading water infrastructure, rehabilitating a housing complex, constructing a new health department facility, and purchasing city vehicles.
Biden-Harris Administration Allocates $48M for Indian Country Water Projects
Following a tour of the Hopi Tribe's Keams Canyon Water Project, Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland announced a $48 million investment from President Biden's Investing in America agenda to repair and revitalize Tribal water sanitation systems, upgrade irrigation and power projects and invest in the safety of dams in Tribal communities.
USDA Announces $500M for Regional Conservation Partnership
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the availability of $500 million in funding to advance partner-driven solutions to conservation on agricultural land through the Department's Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP). RCPP leverages a voluntary approach to conservation that expands the reach of conservation efforts and climate-smart agriculture through public-private partnerships.

Alaska to Receive Additional $100M for Broadband
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is awarding $100.5 million to facilitate and improve access to high-speed internet for Alaskans in rural communities. These awards are possible thanks to the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA)—and specifically through USDA's ReConnect Program, which aims to ensure high-speed internet for all communities across the United States. To date, Alaska has received more than $3.9 billion in infrastructure investments thanks to the IIJA.
USDA Announces $714M in Grants and Loans for Rural Broadband
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced $714 million in grants and loans to connect thousands of rural residents, farmers, and business owners in 19 states to reliable, affordable high-speed internet.
USDA Rural Development Invests in Wisconsin Multifamily Housing Projects
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Wisconsin Rural Development State Director joined representatives of Wisconsin Management Company, Inc., and others at a grand re-opening to celebrate improvements made to Cuba City Apartments, Cuba City, and Summit Apartments, Barneveld. Funds for improvements came from Wisconsin's Low Income Housing Tax Credit and its Multifamily Preservation Loan and Preservation Revolving Loan Fund.
USDA to Bring New Jobs, Improved Infrastructure to Rural Partners Network Communities
U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Tom Vilsack announced that USDA is helping rural communities across eight states and Puerto Rico address some of their immediate needs and foster long-term economic growth by providing loans and grants to rural and Tribal communities in the Rural Partners Network.
USDA Makes Loans, Grants Available for Low-Income Home Repair
AARP is working to raise awareness of loans and grants the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is making available to very low-income seniors for home repairs and improvements, known as the 504 Home Repair Program. The program is available to people in communities of 20,000 or fewer and funds can be used for a wide variety of improvements.
